A 404 error is often returned when pages have been moved or deleted. 404 errors should not be confused with DNS errors, which appear when the given URL refers to a server name that does not exist. A 404 error indicates that the server itself was found, but that the server was not able to retrieve the requested page.

A 404 error is regularly returned when pages have been moved or erased. 404 mistakes ought not be mistaken for DNS blunders, which show up when the given URL alludes to a server name that does not exist. A 404 mistake demonstrates that the server itself was found, yet that the server was not ready to recover the asked for page.

The easiest and most effective way to fix 404 errors, from an SEO perspective, is to use a 301 redirect. 301 is an HTTP response code that signals to the user's browser (as well as Google's search indexing robots) that your content has moved permanently from one URL to another one

The 404 Error Page, known as "page not found," is an HTTP[S] standardized status code that indicates an established connection with the server but an inability to find the page in question. Excessive 404 errors negatively impact a website's SEO and are lost revenue opportunities when the user does not ultimately navigate to the website.

A 404 error is returned by a web server when it cannot find the page you have requested. The most likely cause of this error is a mis typed URL.
