Sitemaps are a protocol that allows the webmaster for a website to inform Google and other major search engines about URLS on a website that are available for crawling. Sitemaps allow search engines to find all of your webpages, that they might otherwise miss when indexing.

XML Sitemaps are important for SEO because they make it easier for Google to find your site's pages—this is important because Google ranks web PAGES, not just websites. There is no downside to having an XML Sitemap and having one can improve your SEO, so we highly recommend them.

sitemap is a file having all the url's of website which makes easy for crawler to read all webpage simultaneously.. It helps in indexing and crawling of website..

The XML sitemap is a document created to help search engine crawlers find our pages, URLs easily from a single place. Generally, there are 2 types of sitemaps, XML sitemaps and HTML sitemaps. HTML sitemaps are created and published to help the user to find appropriate pages within a website. XML sitemaps are an important document connected with SEO. XML sitemaps provide information such as URL of pages, posts, category etc. XML sitemaps also provide information about last modified time/ date, priority etc of web pages included in a website. Only 50,000 URLs can be included in a single sitemap. Creation and submission of XML sitemaps come under on page SEO optimization process of search engine optimization.

If you have more URLs, you will have to break your list into multiple sitemaps. You can optionally create a sitemap index file (a file that points to a list of sitemaps) and submit that single index file to Google.
