Google is ranking the sites after many factors and Yahoo is more about content.

Optimisation techniques don’t differ from search engine to search engine. If you have worked on your on-page and off-page optimization part correctly, you’ve made all search engines happy. Here’s some help:

Google

Yahoo

As long as you follow ethical techniques set by those major search engines, I'm sure that your website will rank good on search results of major search engines.

For particular criteria the optimization techniques are same for both search engine. In Google there is Google webmaster, in yahoo there is yahoo site explorer to submit your website. Both automatically crawl your webpage and back links. It is easy to get ranking in yahoo than Google.

Google and Yahoo are two of the biggest names in the internet but these two are not on par with the social networking sites that are the biggest fad in the world today. Google is one of the search engine giants in the world of the internet today. It has not only made YouTube to be a huge sensation but it is also trying to make its own name in the social networking industry by developing Google Buzz

Google brings accurate and quality results and however, Yahoo only bring results. That's why google rule the search engine market.

In My Opinion Ranking Factors are almost same of all Search Engines! Preferences are Domain Age, Qualitative Content, Inbound Links etc!

The SE called Yahoo loves key words in the content however not the links. The total approach of Yahoo is much different from that of the Big G or Google search engine.
