There can be a variety of factors involved for a decrease in site rank, including where your traffic sources are coming from. It also depends on the type of site measurement being implemented. You can see more comprehensive site measurements including traffic sources, category and country rank, social media traffic, outgoing links, audience interests and more.

Alexa ranking isn't just about the measure of traffic on a website. It also looks at how many pages a visitor viewed on the website. Add to that comparison with other websites. Probably, that's where your site might be taking a hit.

You could consider having more customer engaging content on your website, have proper cross-linking between the pages and check on your SEO practice. Also, try and look for some analysis of your visitors, when and where do they spend most of their time. You could offer them more content like that or do something more in that direction.

Alexa rank is based on visits from people with the Alexa toolbar installed on their browser. This means that depending on what your website is about (thus how likely are users to have this toolbar installed) you may be getting lots of visitors that Alexa doesn't know about. (A lot of people do not consider Alexa to be a very reliable measuremen
