Big data is a term that can be applied to some very specific characteristics in terms of scale and analysis of data. And it’s not necessarily going to be the preserve of very large companies such as Facebook and Google.
The simplest explanation of the big data phenomenon is that on the one hand, it’s all about large amounts of data, while on the other hand, it is also almost always about running analytics on those large data sets.

Traditional data use centralized database architecture in which large and complex problems are solved by a single computer system. Centralised architecture is costly and ineffective to process large amount of data.

Big data is based on the distributed database architecture where a large block of data is solved by dividing it into several smaller sizes.
