Is Social Bookmarking degrading its important after closing DMOZ on 17th March 2017?

You can do a little bit of social bookmarking, but it won't contribute a lot towards your rankings even if you do it extensively.

Social bookmark submitting like Stumbleupon and Reddit are still valuable today because of their regular visitors in which developing conversations related to their area.

Social bookmarking is effective as an SEO tactic as long as you are doing it the right way. For example, Delicious is a great bookmarking website from Yahoo! but if you are not active in Delicious itself, that is, if you are not following people on it, engaging with the crowd, and no one is following you on it, it's just another website for you. Earlier you could have enabled a backlink to your website but nowadays almost all "good" social bookmarking sites give out nofollow links. So if you want to utilise social bookmarking as part of your SEO plan, try to spend 4-5 hours every week on the websites you believe will add value to your own website.

Many Bloggers (newbie and pro-bloggers), believe in writing great content but by making their content they will leverage the power of Social sites and this will not only drive traffic but there are many other advantages and benefits of Social bookmarking. I’m listing down some of the advantages below and if you believe I missed out something, do let me know via comments.

I can Say still Yes, social bookmarking submission are beneficial for generating traffic and they will increase your backlinks also. so do bookmarking and directory submission.

I personally never found social bookmarking to be a good SEO strategy. From my experience, it could deliver some traffic to a website but not a lot. Since a lot of social bookmarking services offer spam services, I would agree that the method is degrading.
