Wikipedia and other websites go dark to raise awareness

Today, on January 18, 2012 Wikipedia and many other websites have gone dark shutting off services to English language users for 24 hours. Wikipedia is hoping this will raise awareness to legislation known as SOPA and PIPA in the U.S. Congress that could fatally damage the free and open Internet.

Other websites that didn't go dark like Google, have changed their logo to still raise awareness.

PIPA stands for Protect IP Act and SOPA stands for Stop Online Piracy Act and they are designed to censor the web and impose harmful regulations on American businesses. Ozzu and millions of Internet users oppose these bills.

As already posted here yesterday, please sign the petition to communicate to our Congress to vote no before its too late.

It's not like the people in charge to try and spoil everyone else's day, they hardly ever do that.
