Paid link refers to the link where you have to pay website owners to get backlink from their website.

Paid links earlier used to help to increase the ranking and traffic of the website, but now Google is considering paid link as a Black Hat Technique so it's better to stay away from such links.

Paid links are considered as the easiest way to get your website quickly ranked in SEPRs; but only if you have good funds with you to spend on your SEO campaign. However, it is against the natural SEO which affects organic search results.

Paid links or link buying is an act of spamming which is punishable by Google once caught. However if the website is highly relevant to the article then there’s no need to worry. I got some help with this matter from internetmarketingexpertdotcom

Many high authority sites are doing paid text linking and linking sites through 'Sponosred linking' sections, But, Google does not seem to be bothered. Just because they are already ruling the industry. Sponsored links are obviously not natural, they are absolutely paid, still Google is giving them priority that is why only people are paying huge for them.

Paid links is buying and selling links to increase rankings in SERP google may determine such links under black hat seo techniques and penalise your site.
