Before you endeavour to start the actual design work, be sure to find some inspiration and fill your mind with some different ideas and tones, allow them to dance around a bit. Look at many different styles of logos and the feel for the logo will come to you. Then you can start drawing out the logo.

And once you've created something, put it down for a while then next time you view it, look at it through the eyes of a prospective customer.
