What are the best methods to rank a newly created wordpress website?
What are the best methods to get started? I have read some articles regarding this but I'm not sure where I should begin. Please help.

The very first thing you have to do is On-Page Optimization and Content Optimization. Then Start Off-Page for your website but it take longer to index on SE approx 2.5 or 3 months or longer.

First of all You should do work on proper on page seo like.
Use SEO-Friendly URLs. Avoid ugly URLs: example.com/p=123. Start Title With Keyword. Add Modifiers To Your Title. Wrap Your Blog Post Title in an H1 Tag. Wrap Subheadings in H2 Tags. Drop Keyword in First 100 Words. Then you should do signing up with Google Console, Google analytic and connect your website. After this start off page activities like. Forum Posting Directories Submission Guest Posting Social Bookmarking.

Rank your wordpress website:
1. Put unique content on the website. 2. Do strong on page likes: Keywords, meta data, canonical url, alt tags, sitemaps, robots.txt. 3. Do article submission. 4. Blog posting. 5. Image sharing. 6. Social media marketing.

On-Page Optimization Techniques For Better Ranking in 2017 ... With regards to meta keywords, Google has made it clear that they don't care about ..... I'm new to this but testing it variably all around my WordPress sites.

Make sure that you do proper Keyword research, do proper ON-Page Optimization.
Make sure that you include keyword in the Title Tag, Meta description, H1 Tag, URL. Also try out doing Off Page optimization which includes Forum submission on high quality. Article Submission, Blog Commenting.
