Yes, you can do SEO well as for your Blog when you go for blog creation then you need to keep Good content after that you can do On page SEO for your Blog means you can also promote your keywords on your blog after that by off page activities you can easily get referral traffic to your Blog by this activities you can do SEO for your Blog.

It's easier when you have a site on your own domain/host. Also, it depends on what is your blog about, if you have a lot of competition you will have a hard time getting on top. If you have a social network account (FB,twitter,etc,.) share your blog among your friends it is the best way to share your blog.

There are so many ways to promote blog but the few are the best and preferable to do like sharing on social media,using an email list to distribute new posts,Purchasing Google or Facebook advertising to drive awareness. If you want do top best in`your blog then use off page SEO techniques which will be beneficial.

Instead of worrying about SEO for your blogs, maybe u better start writing good content and make your blog look beautiful. Look at other blog which is similar to your, if you can't make a better one then why google want to rank you better?
