Are you refer to images title and alt tag? those images description is important for images search. Without those description we hardly get rank in images search.

SEO is content based work... it google bot does not scrawl the images.. so the best option put the right content instead of lots of images..

According to me ,

Generally, it is not advisable to add too many images in a website, but when images are absolutely necessary, there arises the need for image optimization and of course the author has shared some good points related to image optimization.

Image Optimization is a part of seo, as we there are lots of competitions in search result, as same we have in image search. if your website isn't ranking in organic result but your images are on top, so don't worry your website will get good number of impression, and clicks depend on your image if they are match to the search so you will get hits.

That�s why image titles matter. Keep that in mind when you save images, name them, or change them in any way.
