Keyword percentage should not be increased from 4 percent of your content. Like in content of 500 words it should be repeat not more than 7 to 8 times.

Keyword Density is the percentage of occurrence of your keywords to the text in the rest of your webpage.
It is important for your main keywords to have the correct keyword density to rank well in Search Engines.

Density = ( Nkr / ( Tkn -( Nkr * ( Nwp-1 ) ) ) ) * 100. where Nwp = the number of terms in the keyphrase.

This general formula allows that the total word count will be unaffected if the key(phrase) is indeed a single term, so it acts as the original formula.

It should not be more then 4 to 5 percent of your content and when you exceed this limit it call keywords stuffing which is black hat technique in SEO.
