Updating using PHP

I currently have a website set up in PHP format; a menu, header and body section. My primary reason I use this format is to have the ability to change one item in particular once (eg: a menu item) and have the entire site updated without having to modify each and every HTML page within the site. I’m wondering if this is the best format to use or is there a better solution which will return the same results. Would ASP be a consideration? Any help greatly appreciated.
