How to optimize page load time?

According to Yahoo, 80% of a Web page’s load time is spent downloading the different pieces-parts of the page: images, stylesheets, scripts, Flash, etc. An HTTP request is made for each one of these elements, so the more on-page components, the longer it takes for the page to render.

That being the case, the quickest way to improve site speed is to simplify your design.

Streamline the number of elements on your page.
Use CSS instead of images whenever possible.
Combine multiple style sheets into one.
Reduce scripts and put them at the bottom of the page.

Minify Java Script
Minify CSS
Reduce HTML File
Don't use Flash on website
Use limited Plugin for website.
Optimize image and video size...............

If you pages are generated dynamically, cache your pages.

Use a CDN to load images/js/css from a distributed network of servers (e.g. MaxCDN).

If you are using a VPN/cloud/dedicated server, get a faster server or at least upgrade your RAM.

Minimize HTTP Requests
Reduce server response time
Enable compression
Enable browser caching
Minify Resources
Optimize images
Optimize CSS Delivery
Prioritize above-the-fold content
Reduce the number of plugins you use on your site
Reduce redirects
