I believe it is what Google uses when ranking whether or not your site has authority.

Page rank is not much important if you have quality traffic and have got search rank for your keywords and you are getting your customers..

Page rank show popularity of your site. And search engines count popularity by counting number of quality backlinks means back links from theme related reputed sites. If you have good number of quality backlinks then your PR will be good.

Once again you've created an incredible post. With your help and guidance my Google page rank on a fairly new site (5 months old) is already at a 2 with my US alexa ranking under 25,000. Thanks again for everything you do.
