There was a time Blog commenting was excessively used for getting backlinks but nowadays only quality blog comment work. Don't comments only for backlinking just comment to add value to the post

Blog commenting is more than just getting a backlink, for me it is more on interaction. Being in an online community where you are able to build strong relationship within the members of the community as well as establishing online reputation.

Simply search for some good blogs in your niche or relevant blog posts, read the blog and give your comment on that topic. This will allow you to interact with that page and also other readers will able to see your views, and visit you through the link you provided. thus, Blog commenting is good method of acquiring quality back-links and attract good traffic to your website. However, there a high chance of getting spam if you do not do it properly.
