How to advertise on Linkedin - Site Owners Forums

I did not use this site to much. Just made a profile and added some friends.
Still I hear that it is a great way to advertise your products there.
Any success campaign on that site? What did you do?

Posting regular status updates. Talk about what you're working on and who you're working for. Include updates that would be of interest to your target customers and clients.

Active group participation. Join groups related to your business and your interests and participate in discussions there for increased exposure. Discussion participation can help establish you as an expert in your field. Don't spam the groups as you'll run the risk of getting tossed out. You'll also tarnish the reputation of your business.
Send messages and invitations to those in your network and to other group members. Again, don't be a spammer or a pest.

Answer questions. Log in to LinkedIn, click More and select Answers. You can also search for answers on your topic by using search and selecting Answers from the drop-down list of areas to search. Click the Open Answers tab and see if you can provide a good answer to someone else's question. This establishes your credibility as an expert. Always be honest and answer to the best of your ability. Others looking for answers to the same problem will notice you.

You can see what participants of the group contact you and then add him to the list of contacts. Using �Top Influencers� an online entrepreneur can track the most popular people of the group.

Create poll and participate actively in groups. Update regularly will increase the traffic through linkedin.

Much like Facebook � LinkedIn Direct Ads allow you to target specific demographics (age groups, gender, location). They also allow you to upload a company logo or otherwise relevant picture to accompany your ad. In this way, LinkedIn sets itself apart from competitor Google � who offers only a string of keywords with which to find your target audience.

The biggest concern that we have with the ability of LinkedIn to generate a Facebook-like revenue stream is that that users simply spend less time on LinkedIn than they do on Facebook. Unless a company is looking to hire individuals, or you�re a new user who is setting up their profile � the likelihood that you�ll spend more than a few minutes a day on the site is pretty minute. Thus, a company looking to advertise for a particular event or product is better off reaching the same audience on Facebook with a cheaper cost-per-click rate and a larger possible audience.

LinkedIn offers a good pay-per-click (PPC) advertising system that I feel is actually the best social advertising platform out there. It is also possible for businesses to post available positions on LinkedIn to enable prospective applicants to search for these positions to see if they qualify.
