To write unique content and get backlinks would be the two most important ones from my point of view.

I usually do directory posting, forum posting and social book marking. Other marketing strategies are too a part of my seo campaign but the initial 3 are my favorite practices o often do.

As personally i like to create more and more quality back links. Because they help me to rank the keywords and also get a good amount of traffic for our website.

Never depend on one technique, its not a good digital marketing strategy. If you doing off page optimization then do following things which are simple and effective:
1) Article submission 2) Write Blogs 3)Social bookmarking submission 4)Directory submission 5) Forum posting Don't become greedy and think if you will do 100 of submissions in one day then your keyword will rank... Its not at all recommended.
