Directory are same as bookmarking but blog commenting is the commenting on the page you want to comment and want to give them best wishes.

I will answer this way - backlinks from a lot of directories aren't useful for ranking, but blog commenting is useful.

In directory we can directly store or enter our website data. It is a direct backlink to our site.
But in blog commenting it could be no follow link also.
