slicing is the process of dividing a single 2D user interface composition layout into multiple image files of the graphical user interface for one or more electronic pages. It is typically part of the client side development process of creating a web page and/or web site, but is also used in the user interface design process of software development and game development.

Cut something or a piece of something off or from (something larger) and fames tools of Photoshop. Slicing is the technique in photoshop that allows you to divide the images in small parts to use it later on a website.
This is the only purpose of the slice tool: you can design a web page in photoshop and chop it in small parts, dividing it in buttons, images, menus and background, and then export it as html and images from Image Ready (a web optimization software that is also included in Photoshop).

Hi,As far I know,slicing is mainly used for 2D computer graphics and slicing reduces work loads and in offline electronic media, individually sliced sections of a 2D image can be used to decrease the local computer processing requirements to change a section of that image.

I have no doubt to read these well replays here.I think Object slicing is also used to refer to a more subtle, problematic, case in which an object assignment by value appears to be to a superclass instance but is actually to a subclass instance.
