HTML is not enough, I think you should also learn CSS and Photoshop to learn website design, to create advance effect on the website you should go for jQuery, JavaScript and Flash.

For web design you'll want to focus on photoshop, html, xhtml, css and your flavor of clientside and serverside scripting languages.

You'll need photoshop skills for the general mach-up of the site and html/css skills for the display of the site. At first it won't be necessary, but over time you'll want to start learning scripting languages because dynamic and interactive sites are becoming more popular as time goes on.

Web designng is more about images and layout, which does knowledge in photoshop/gimp nessecary. HTML may be a bit old to know to, perhaps if you know HTML 5. But otherwise learn CSS, PHP and Mysql, besides photoshop/gimp and you could do great.

Hi,

HTML defines the structure and layout of a Web document by using a variety of tags and attributes. The correct structure for an HTML document starts with <HTML><HEAD><BODY> and ends with </BODY></HTML>. All the information you'd like to include in your Web page fits in between the <BODY> and </BODY> tags.
