quoting the moz definition it says "Schema.org (often called Schema) is a semantic vocabulary of tags (or microdata) that you can add to your HTML to improve the way search engines read and represent your page in SERPs"

Schema.org is a collection of schemas for structured data markup (sometimes called “schema markup”) that helps search engines better understand content on websites. Implementing this markup on a site can also improve how that site's listings appear in SERPs

We implement the schema markup of a website in schema.org schema collection. which helps the website content to be better understood by search engine. This markup implementation helps to improve the sites listing appearance in SERP.
