A bad backlink comes from unrelated and untrusted sources which are irrelevant. So for quality backlinks post in related and relevant websites.

A back link from banned websites or a link that is created from penalized is called bad link

A bad backlink comes from unrelated and untrusted sources. Sites that have been penalized and those that are violating Google's Webmaster Guidelines can have a negative impact on your SEO.

bad backlink is a link that comes from a not-so trusted website. Since the Penguin algorithm change in 2012, Google has been cracking down on bad links. Before Google launched the Penguin algorithm, websites were violating Google Webmaster Guidelines with black hat SEO.

What are the backlinks are coming from irrelevant and unwanted domains. Its all not secure website backlinks. So Try to avoid this kind of backlinks.

It is broken link It is spamming link It is un-trusted and irrelevant link

Links with unexpected or irrelevant website, which is not trusted or goes to count as spam is bad links and we should avoid to linking with those site for good traffic.

Basically bad links are those don't have good LINKs in serp, no social media connectivity and performance, DA/PA is low etc.
