It’s not that search engine's open a Pandoras box each New Year...The techniques remain the same. But, Google is attempting to roll out a series of updates to improve user experience. The latest being page layout update with Google penalizing ad-heavy sites....which means a lot of MFA websites will have to be kicked out of the way.

Yes I agree, basically the existing techniques in SEO stay on but with few changes to the algorithm demanding that now more relevant content will be considered with duplicate content receiving a penalty. Also link building techniques have been introduced but its effect is yet to be gauged on the overall SEO results.

Actually there is not new comes in SEO and if some one found then very few people wants to share those information with us. As per the my opinion, Local business listing and Forum commenting is the best task in Off page SEO.
