Basically, Link farm is a group of website that all hyperlink to every other site in the group.It can be say a form of spamming the index of a search engine.

Link farming is very bad practice and increase possibilities for website penalty. I suggest all webmaster ignore this practice and use standard options i.e. articles, blog commenting, classifieds ads etc for better link exchange process.

Link Farm is also announced as "Spam" by search engine so we should avoid all black hat techniques to penalize our website or blog.

As far as I concern with SEO. Link farm is called as Black hat techniques. I would not like to get back links from any of the black hat techniques. In place of Link farming you may get back links from Forum submission as well as Article Submission.

A link farm is a website (or a group of websites) created only for the purpose of increasing the link popularity of another site by increasing the number of incoming links. A link farm usually looks like a regular web page, but the majority of the content is hyperlinks often random and unrelated to other websites.

Link farms don't offer any type of benefit; they are just a big list of links and lots of advertisements. It's a spammy website taking up space on the worldwide web. Don't do link exchanges with link farms. It's a black hat technique.
