Well, it depends...what's your goal here? rankings? Then no, nofollow links won't help with that in the end. If your goal is more traffic, a nofollow link on a very popular blog or popular website can generate massive traffic and increase revenue. Choose your battles!

Yes no-follow links are useful in SEO if you have all do-follow links for your site. Google will come to know that your site is only for SEO along with do-follow equally you should have no-follow links as well. Even no-follow links help to increase ranking in SERP.

Google does not count nofollow links while rank your site but Bing and yahoo consider nofollow links.So if you want to rank in Bing and yahoo you can create no follow links too.

My experience with no follow links is that if they are placed on high traffic sites they will give you traffic but they are of little seo value.
