Everyone I know is using Facebook. Only a few of them use Twitter.

Don't underestimate Twitter, it's really viral and it can be used for a lot of good stuff.

there are many social media sites that give direct traffic as well as Backlinks like Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Google Plus etc.

Facebook is first and second is Twitter but both are very useful for social media marketing because both platforms are being used by the millions of people around the world.

I prefer Facebook, Twitter just doesn't offer enough information and I don't feel like as many people use Twitter. On the downside, Facebook makes you pay if you want to get the word out on anything.

Facebook over twitter.. twitters just a text spam.

Both are extremely good. Facebook has the larger following but they can both generate substantial amounts of traffic.

The best thing about Twitter is that you can literally engage with anyone. It is for this reason that I think it opens more doors to marketers but I would never say it's better overall.
