Bounce rate is define as percentage of users who view only one page of your website and then leave the website. I t does not measure how long a user spent time on user website.

Nikita Patil 02-21-2015 02:31 AM

bounce rate is the rate at which the visitors leave your website without really examining what's it about or not completing a particular activity or transaction. 80% bounce rate may either refer to the number or proportion of visitors who visited your site and left (without doing anything). what is your website about? maybe you can do a little improvement so it can stir the interest of your visitors

jaysh4922 02-26-2015 12:54 AM

High bounce rate in itself doesn't mean it is a bad site. I would think google looks to see if you continue your search, going back to the google search results and looking at more sites.I really doubt that bounce rate make a different on SERP.

Bounce Rate is the percentage of visitors that hit your website on a given page and don’t visit any other pages on your site.

bounce rate should always be low, if yes then it means that they have got the answer, or else they are not satisfied with your answer .

Bounce rate is the ratio how a visitor spends a time on your website. If a visitor land on your targeted page and close the website within short time or without interacting with the site (accessing any other page on the website or clicking any link) it will count as Bounce. the grater number of bounce rate shows that visitor are visiting your page and simply closed down or move away, which indicates they are less interested in that page or the page is not capable of holding the visitors.

In terms of SEO less bounce rate is good sign.

In Web analytics, including Google Analytics, bounce rate is the measurement in percentage of how many Web site visitors view only one page within your Web site – this is the one page they entered the site on (called the entrance page or landing page). These visitors view only that single page and exit the site on that same page.

Who enters your website and leave the website without doing any thing

In Web Analytics, bounce rate is actually the percentage of single interaction visits to a website. Most websites will see bounce rates fall somewhere between 26% and 70%.
A high bounce rate typically indicates that the landing page isn't relevant to your visitor or you are not offering any incentive for the visitor to explore other areas and pages of your website.

Bounce rate should not exceed 40%. To reduce it, You should remove ads from contents so that when visitors will visit on your site he will see contents not ads. What analytics do you use to track this bounce rate?
