It depends on the social network. First thing is to get your profile setup correctly and make sure a link to your website is everywhere it can be. For example some people don't know that you can add your link to an image you upload to Facebook.

When you have your profile setup correctly then it's time to start joining groups in your niche or market. After you've answered a few questions and interacted within the group you can start posting links to your blog posts, video etc. BUT only if they are of value and not see as spamming or selling. Any content you create should be high value regardless.
