How To Test 301 redirection properly?

Proper URL rewriting must be thoroughly tested (preferably in a staging environment). Just checking the response status codes of the pre-migration URLs is not enough, because sometimes redirections go to the wrong final URL. Old URLs can return a 301 redirection status code and still redirect to the wrong final URL.

To test whether you've set up your 301 redirect correctly, type your customized URL into your browser's address bar. If everything is set up correctly, you should be redirected to the defined destination page.
