How to rank in Google maps?
 

I want to rank my google places listing for particular keywords in google maps. Can anybody suggest what are the SEO activities needed to carry out for the same? Currently my listing is in the 5th page of Google maps for a particular keyword. How do I bring that to 1st page? what are the important SEO activities for this? If anybody knows, please explain..

You just have to submit your business listing on Google maps. You have to verify your listing then.

What has worked for me, is putting keywords in the business name, and also positive reviews will help push your listing higher up the list i believe

First of all verify your business on Google listings and then start getting reviews back.

There are some important factors to rank in Google Maps :

1. Proper category associations
2. Physical address in city of search
3. Consistency of structured citations
4. Quality/authority of structured citations
5. Domain authority of website
6. Individually owner-verified local Google+ page
7. City, state in Places landing page title

You must do these things if you want to rank in Google Map.

I've tried a lot to rank on google maps and after a year it has been unsuccessful. What I've learned you need to setup several google places accounts through PO boxes at post offices around town. At least that is how our competitors have moved up on there.

You must ensure that the information of your business that you are promoting locally is completely the same with what you have in Google Business Listing.

Reviews also play a big role in determining the rankings of your site in Google maps. But you should avoid spam reviews.
