What is cross linking ?
|
Cross linking? I believe you are referring to reciprocal and inbound links. That is when website A and website B both have a link to each other. A <---> B
That can be of benefit if both sites are of similar content. However that looks strange if a Bank is sharing links with a Pizza Restaurant. Google gives higher link juice for more relevant links. Don't create a link Circle! This is very bad and you can get caught by Google. It where links are shared in one direction with 3 or more sites to share equal PR. So a link circle looks like A--->B--->C---D then D--->A see D linking back to A makes a complete link circle with no other inbound or outbound links. |
It is the linking between two sites, popular way of search engine marketing. it is important to don not use cross linking on every page.

A link from a site's page to another of it's page is not cross linking IMHO. Cross linking comes into picture when you have 2 or more sites and you link many pages from your sites to one another. Understanding Excessive cross linking is difficult. In general if you have a new site then avoid linking structures which try to manipulate PR. One way to avoid excessive cross linking is to think it from user point of view. Is it beneficial for the user?
