Paid links are not as effective as Google considers organic website traffic. So it is good to generate backlinks from relevant websites

They are useful if they come from the sites that belongs to your website's niche.

Paid links are not useful in any way, These links may harms your site ranking by violating Google's quality guidelines. If you get paid links consistently Google may send you manual spam action notification on your site.

I don't thing now paid links are effective. If Google catch that you had paid links for your site then your sit may get some negative impact. So recommend you to continue to ethical SEO.

i think paid link is always working good. but got many link buy pay money is not in budget so thread and guest posting is best option to generate back-links.
