Hiding content is considered as spamming if you use targeted keyword in it. By content hiding with targeted keywords your side may be penalize. Hence content hiding is bad as per SEO.

Bad idea, your web content should be designed for your visitors and be readable, trying to out fox Google is never a good idea and will get you penalised.
