Google's new update for meta tags

Hello everyone,

As you all might be knowing Google has new update for meta tags title and desciption, I just wanted to know what will be its effect will it be benefecial or it will cause some loss?

What update are you talking about?
I haven't seen any updates released by Google, where did you get that info?
