Will Broken links not affecting the keyword ranking result?

My website having low amount of broken links compared to my competitor's website.
But my competitor website having top ranking result.
How they have top ranking result but with high broken links?

Yes its affect the ranking as they are dead links

Yes broken or dead link affect your ranking as they didn't"t redirect to your website, and crawler take as spammy link
