You can promote your website through Facebook or Twitter and by sharing with people in chatrooms like on IRC servers,Create some cool videos and upload them on youtube and post link on blogs and forums,there are freelancers on websites like SEOclerks who offer to promote websites for small fee,this is simple way to promote I think.

There are many factors that affect the SEO of any website, basically those factors that need to be fixed first are the On page factors and off page factors, again in on page optimization of the website depends on many factors like all the meta tags, unique content ,images alt tags etc.

If you need to score, then you have to examine your competitors forinstance, you have to check each an everything what your competitors have done for the sites. You have to make your site more SEO friendly.
