There are many ways to build traffic to a site. Ways like blog commenting, guest posting, social media marketing and so on. But when i discussed with experienced bloggers, they said SEO was a great way to get targeted traffic.

Yes seo is the best way to get real traffic, the reason is because when you do seo your users comes to your site by searching you, this means they need the services that you are selling and hence they are most likely to buy them, in other methods you market them you service which a number of time becomes annoying, seach marketing is the best marketing practice.
