If you are not getting improvement in page ranking in web search result, you must do SEO, SMO...
It is also important to do right SEO, otherwise result will same as previous.

Reading all the above answers, I am hoping that you still don't know about the issue behind dropping your website rank. Sometimes before I am also facing the same issues with my website vowels.co.in .
I am suggesting to check your all inbound and outbound links. Due to latest google updation, google dropping rank fast.
If your website have any spammy links, then you should remove it ASAP from google disvow tools.
