What is difference between SEO and content marketing?

The confusion comes over how SEO and content marketing fit together.
Do they fit together?
Are they at odds with each other?
If so, is it possible to force them together?

I think they are basically the same thing.
Well not the same thing but they blend perfectly together because they seek to accomplish the same end product.
Content writing and marketing is directly linked to SEO I believe.
