According to me the method I preferred is a pretty airtight solution for canonicalization problems are using 301 redirects. A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect from one URL to another, using a 301 redirect will carry over any link authority from one URL to another, even from a different domain!

There are two main ways to fix canonical issues on a website: by implementing 301 redirects, and/or by adding canonical tags to your site's pages to tell Google which of several similar pages is preferred. The right option depends on the canonical issue you're trying to resolve
