I would say Content and SEO go hand in hand. If you are new to SEO then,

1. Do proper keyword research and find super long tail keywords. Go for keywords with more than 4, 5 or even 6 word length. Longer better.

2. Look for the authority of sites ranking on first page of google. If the entire space is crowded with high domain authority then you can't outrank them unless you have very good backlinks. Otherwise go for it.

3. Write great content with images, videos and references.

4. Do proper on-page seo for your blog post. (There are tons of articles out there on this topic if you google)

5. Publish and promote the posts on social media and on blogging communities.

6. But in the mean time learn proper off-page seo and try to gain real good backlinks from sites on your niche.

Keep on learning and practice what you learn.

Patience and hard work is the key!!!

Learn how to optimize your site to increase your page and site speed so that when a visitor comes back to your site, the browser doesn't have to reload the entire page.

You need to increase your rankings on Alexa.
1. Install the Alexa toolbar or browser extension SearchStatus and design your website as your homepage. This is the most basic step.
2. Put an Alexa rank widget on the Web page: each click counts as a visit even if the toolbar is not used by those who visit it.
3. Encourage others to use the Alexa toolbar.
These people include friends, fellow webmasters as well as your visitors. You put links to these people and try to guide how to install as well as its benefits.

At the same time
1. Use Wordpress as website building platform.
2. Keyword Research
3. Optimization of the site (onpage / onsite)
4. Use Google place (location)
5. Build backlinks
