is photoshop good for logo design?

I started developing web sites and very basic at graphic design, and using photoshop is the only option i have to design image files with photoshop cs3. Sometimes they get result best in quality and sometimes i feel images are not properly laid in terms of pixels formatting.
Is there any other design software and is easy to learn to get expected output?

Photoshop is not the best software for (professional) logo design. If you go this route you may find yourself redesigning the logo again and again to meet physical dimensions and dpi requirements without pixelation.

Better to go with Illustrator for logo design
