According to me,
A link farm is a form of spamming the index of a search engine (sometimes called spamdexing or spamexing). Any group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other site in the group. Although some link farms can be created by hand, most are created through automated programs and services.

Link farm is a form of spamming and this is not good for your site.

Link farms is built for the purpose of artificially increasing the number of inbound links to a website to increase that site index ranking in the search engines. It is a form of search engine spam and is used to trick search engines into giving a website a higher ranking for a particular keyword then the website merits on its own.

In simple words A link farm is basically a group of sites that hyperlink to all the other sites in the group regardless of niche. This is page doesn't convey any information for user or search engine bot. This practice is not advisable by major search engines.
