Google Caffeine
The new update, the Google Caffeine update, is supposed to change 35% of all searches. The whole point of it is to ensure that only recent, relevant searches come up at the top of the SERPs. In other words, if you search for 'Japan tsunami,' it should show you the tsunami from the spring of 2011 and not one that happened 20 years ago. The 2nd update, which went into effect in October, has been dubbed various things, like the 'Freshness' update and the 'Double Espresso' update. The whole focus of the freshness update is to bring timely results to the top. This means that you need information that's not only high-quality and relevant, but also up-to-date.
