To compete in the SERP's (search engine results pages) and drive more traffic and really work on your website, you must look through the eyes of search engine and ask yourself, what Google wants? The answer is simple; Google wants what is best for its customers, and requires good quality content that your visitors will find informative and useful, therefore, valuable.
Until recently, if you wanted to rank well for particular keyword or phrase, it was a case of filling your editorial with as many of these key words as possible, which led to a decrease in the center of the copy reader. But not anymore as Google has forever changed the way it ranks web pages, and although it still wants to see good quality back links and a well structured web site, the emphasis is now on a unique, insightful content that was / is common and actively promoted within your network of followers (think Google +1, Twitter, Facebook, stumble upon, Digg, etc.).
