How could I improve this design?
 

I've made this web design today on photoshop, I like it, but I don't like that there are just solid colours, no detail or anything if you know what I mean, I want to fill it up a bit more, maybe add a texture or something else but I'm not sure what. I want to try and make some of the bits of the website stand out more, like the header, and the content box, but I don't know any good techniques like that...

I think you get more information in google and you have to search more result in internet. You also follow some best related books which provide you best information about designing?

Read tutorials and practice for improve your design skill.

I would like suggest you to have a look on your competitor's sites and compare you work with them. I am sure you will get your answers.
