Does high number of backlinks means high PR ?
 

Hi,

I am trying to find out answer to this question - Does high number of backlinks means high PR ?
As I have found sites with thousands of backlinks but having 0 pagerank while many have very few ( below 50) and having 4 or more pagerank. Even mine is new having very few backlinks ( though I am trying for getting more pagelinks - high quality ) at iknowvations but page rank is 1.

So what do you think ? What is the secret behind high PR ?

Google PageRank which we see on toolbar is obsolete, it is no longer used by Google.
Actual PageRank is a logarithmic number which is not public.

The toolbar PageRank which we see is only a marketing tool as google puts it.

number of backlinks is only one among many factors used to compute PageRank.

Yes it is one of the important factor, however it is very important that back links are coming from quality sites.

What does High Quality mean ? High PR ? High Traffic ?

Yes high backlinks give more traffic so it increases page rank of site.

High number of backlinks from high PR websites is actually means High PR of your website.

it's not about the quantity of backlinks you have, it should be based on the quality of your backlinks

Page rank is calculated by how many "do-follow" back links the site has got and also the page rank of the site which is giving page rank. Also how many do-follow links going out from your website.

You don't necessarily need many backlinks, but high quality ones, meaning the PR of the page you link to must be equal or higher than PR3.

That is absolutely right, more backlinks and more quality backlinks . That make PR of your website is higher.

"Quality backlinks " what does it mean ? How to get them ?
