There are two types of sitemap you can create for your website. One is xml which is for search engine and other one is html sitemap which mostly created for users.

Basically sitemap create for visitor and search engine know easy way about our page..every where site map use same of type. if you use for USA and india then you would like for search engine then xml sitemap.
